Punto Banco Regulations and Strategy

Punto Banco Principles

Baccarat banque is wagered on with 8 decks in a dealer’s shoe. Cards below ten are counted at their printed number while 10, J, Q, K are zero, and Ace is one. Bets are made on the ‘bank’, the ‘player’, or for a tie (these aren’t actual people; they just represent the two hands that are dealt).

Two hands of 2 cards are then given to the ‘house’ and ‘player’. The value for every hand is the sum total of the cards, but the first digit is dropped. For example, a hand of five and 6 has a score of one (5 plus 6 equals 11; ignore the initial ‘1′).

A additional card could be given out based on the following rules:

- If the gambler or house achieves a score of eight or nine, both players hold.

- If the gambler has five or less, she hits. Players holds otherwise.

- If the player stands, the bank hits on a value less than 5. If the gambler takes a card, a chart is used to decide if the house stays or hits.

Baccarat Banque Odds

The larger of the two hands wins. Winning bets on the banker payout 19:20 (even money less a five percent commission. The Rake is kept track of and cleared out once you quit the table so make sure you have cash left just before you head out). Winning bets on the player pays out at one to one. Winning bets for a tie usually pays 8:1 but on occasion 9 to 1. (This is a poor bet as a tie occurs lower than 1 in every ten rounds. Be wary of wagering on a tie. Although odds are substantially greater for 9:1 vs. eight to one)

Wagered on correctly baccarat offers relatively good odds, apart from the tie wager of course.

Baccarat Chemin de Fer Strategy

As with all games Baccarat has a few established misconceptions. One of which is close to a misconception in roulette. The past isn’t a fore-teller of future actions. Keeping track of past results at a table is a bad use of paper and a snub to the tree that gave its life for our paper needs.

The most familiar and possibly the most successful strategy is the one-three-two-six technique. This method is used to maximize profits and limit losses.

Start by betting one chip. If you succeed, add another to the two on the table for a sum of three dollars on the second bet. If you win you will hold 6 on the game table, subtract four so you keep two on the third bet. If you come away with a win on the third wager, add two on the 4 on the game table for a total of 6 on the 4th round.

If you do not win on the 1st round, you take a loss of 1. A profit on the 1st bet followed by a hit on the second creates a loss of two. Wins on the first 2 with a defeat on the third provides you with a profit of 2. And success on the 1st three with a hit on the fourth means you experience no loss. Winning all four rounds leaves you with 12, a gain of ten. This means you will be able to not win on the second round five instances for each favorable run of 4 bets and still balance the books.
